Seikadai Memorial Monument Installation Announcement

Thank you for your continued support of Inawashiro Ski Resort.
We are pleased to announce that construction and installation of the Seikadai Memorial monument at our ski resort has been completed. This monument was built because during the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Torch Relay, our ski resort was the first to have the torchbearers run in a relay down the ski slopes.
In addition, the burner for the Seikadai was constructed with a combination of 37 long and short swords. These swords represent the Byakkotai, a force of 37 young soldiers who once guarded the land of Aizu, 20 of whom lost their lives in the Boshin War.
